• " REMINGTON KNIVES, PAST & PRESENT “ - New!
________________________________________________________
Ron Stewart busted his tail to get together all of the vintage
Remington catalogs he could, sort out every single pattern listed,
and put them in order, with illustrations. Then, he did the same
with the second generation Remingtons that appeared starting in
1982. Then he did the same with the Remington year posters that
knife fans often collect as accessories. The end result is "wow!"
A VERY complete price and identification guide to Remington knives,
and one that should prove useful to anyone with an interest.
Best of all, it's cheap!
Softcover, 304 pp. $16.95

• " BIG BOOK OF POCKET KNIVES, SECOND EDITION “ - New!
________________________________________________________
The popular BIG BOOK OF POCKET KNIVES has been revised with updated
pricing and 50 new pages of knives from the golden era, and the price
remains at only $19.95 (an excellent buy). Whether or not you
bought the first edition, the new book is certainly worth a look.
Our review of the first edition is posted online - look for a review
detailing the updates in the near future!
Softcover, 396 pp. $19.95

• " THE RAZOR ANTHOLOGY "
____________________________________________________________
I neglected to mention before that our own book THE RAZOR ANTHOLOGY,
a collection of articles from the pages of KNIFE WORLD, has gone
out of print. Snuck up on me, it did. However, we did find just a
few that we'd set aside for one reason or another (mostly light
scuffs), and are offering them at $15.00 a pop.
We have too few to offer these on the website, so if you want one
please email me at the address below, or phone us at 1-800-828-7751.

• " THE BOWIE KNIFE, UNSHEATHING AN AMERICAN LEGEND "
____________________________________________________________
In case you just came out of hibernation and haven't heard that the
finest Bowie Knife book EVER has been released and is only $79.95
(with FREE shipping), well, that's precisely the case. If you have
any interest in bowies, proceed with all due haste to our website
and read the full review. We're not kidding, it's a zinger!

• now in the mail - the MAY '05 issue of "KNIFE WORLD"
____________________________________________________________
It's been a crazy spring, folks, and I just haven't found time to
send these email updates on a monthly basis. But the KNIFE WORLDs
are still as constant as death and taxes, and thankfully more
pleasant than both!
May's KNIFE WORLD contains the following articles:
... "THE FORGOTTEN CUTLERIES OF ELDRED" by DAVID PIERCE
David's second Platts-related contribution to KW is another classic,
a superbly researched and written article that offers information and
insight available nowhere else. If you are interested in the Cases,
Platts, and the other cutleries and cutlery families of SW New York
state and NW Pennsylvania, this is absolutely a must-read.
**Special thanks to the readers who helped us locate some**
**super-rare knives for the article. Thanks, guys!**
... "BOWIES ON A BUDGET?" by yours truly
Antique bowies are my greatest love, but they are expensive and
require that you devote some time to educating yourself before
jumping in with both feet. What if you like the styles and the
historical connection, but can't make that sort of commitment?
Here are some darned fine options, most of them under $200 a pop!
... "U.S.N. MARK 3 MOD 0" by FRANK TRZASKA
Why is it that this nifty Ontario knife has received so little
press over the years? Never mind that, Mr. Trzaska has the situation
well in hand -- this article covers what has to be everything that
you'd want to know: all the background info, variations, closeup
photos, the original drawings, and more!
... "FISH KNIVES" by DAVID STEELE
Longtime correspondent Steele offers his thoughts on all sorts
of knives for fish filleting, marine use, and even those for divers.
Options abound.
... "REMINGTON RH72P B.S.A. PRESENTATION KNIFE" by JIM PITBLADO
The story of a one of a kind Remington Official Boy Scout hunting
knife, obtained from the family of a former Remington employee. Wow!
... "GRECO'S PROBUS" by BOB CAMPBELL
Custom maker John Greco turns out some nifty knives at bargain
prices, and our Carolinia contributor decided to try one out.
He likes it! He likes it!
plus ...
REPORTS on both the ABS and the KMG...
The AMERICAN BLADESMITH SOCIETY's annual meeting will be held at the
Blade Show in Atlanta (June 3-5). We present a quick preview of
related activities, and detailed information about the special
handmade knives in the annual ABS Auction. Some beauties here;
check the photos. You can even bid online!
This year's KNIFEMAKERS GUILD show will be August 5-7 in Orlando, FL.
We preview the show and all of its many events in "Knife News",
including the Thursday night Knifemakers' Gala. (KNIFE WORLD
will be there with issues and books, so stop and say hi!)
BERNARD LEVINE's WHUT IZZIT addresses the usual collection of
interesting oddities; ARTISTRY IN KNIVES features BUSTER WARENSKI,
JOHN WHITE, SIMON LYTTON (engraver), JERRY FISK AND ZAZA REVISHVILI,
STEVE SCHWARTZER, CURT ERICKSON and JOHN STAHL (engraver), "Pete" MOON,
RICHARD WRIGHT, DAN PETERSEN, and JIM DROUILLARD; and IRONS IN THE
FIRE has a bone to pick (so to speak).
... and of course there's LETTERS TO THE EDITOR. our exclusive
CLUB CORNER (free listings for all nonprofit knife collecting and
knifemaking organizations), the CLASSIFIEDS, and the biggest knife
related EVENTS CALENDAR anywhere and we do mean ANYWHERE.
While we're at it, how about a quickie listing of articles from the
MARCH and APRIL KNIFE WORLDS? Sure, why not....
MARCH's KNIFE WORLD contained the following feature articles:
... "THEY STAND ALONE" by all-around good guy HANK HANSEN
Who knew that flat-ended pruners could be so beautiful?
... "THE SEA-GOING BLADESMITH" by B.R. HUGHES
Profile of California-based ABS Journeyman Smith CHUCK RICHARDS.
... "DON'T ABUSE YOUR KNIFE" by BOB CAMPBELL
And, of course, why you shouldn't...
... "MUSLIM KNIVES OF THE PHILIPPINES" by EILER R. COOK
Excellent piece by the author of the book TRAVELS FOR DAGGERS.
... "THE TACTICAL FOLDER" by DAVID STEELE
A closer look by a fellow with a lot of experience in police work.
... "RECOGNIZE RECENT REPRODUCTIONS" by FRANK TRZASKA
Read this, before you buy any "WW II era" Mark IIs or M3s!!
...plus the usual columns & etc. (see above)
APRIL's KNIFE WORLD contained the following feature articles:
... "TOMAHAWKS" by MIKE SILVEY (yes, the military knife author)
A superb introduction to the subject. It doesn't all have to be
about knives, does it?
... "THIS 'COOK' IS A REAL MASTER" by B.R. HUGHES
A profile of ABS Master Smith JAMES RAY COOK of Oklahoma.
... "R. MURPHY KNIVES" by HARVEY REISBERG
The old Massachusetts firm is still going at it, and they've made
some neat things over the years!
... "THE MADDENING RECORDS OF KNIFE COLLECTING" by JANANN GILES
One collector's perspectives on collecting frustrations(!)
... "KNIFE COLLECTIONS FOR DISPLAY" by SHELDON & EDNA WICKERSHAM
This friendly couple just won a top display award at the best
display show in the country (the OKCA's Oregon Knife Show). If
you're thinking about a knife display, take heed!
... "CAMILLUS FISH KNIVES" by FRANK TRZASKA
Another one of those military knives that has somehow been
overlooked over the years. Frank T. comes to the rescue once
again, with the complete scoop. (Frank, you da man!)
... "FIELD TRIAL: NORTHWOODS WILLOW LEAF" by M. WILLSON OFFUTT
Woody's popular Field Trial series selects a slick little
American made design, and pronounces it good!
...plus the usual columns & etc. You know them by now, right? If so,
you probably also know that KNIFE WORLD really is the ONLY
publication covering the WORLD of KNIVES. If not, give us a try!
