When they are no longer available, in many cases, the prices shoot skyward. For example, let's take the book on Case Classics, which just went out of print a couple of years ago. Back then, $30 or less would get you a brand new one. Today, $100 is the going rate for good used copies, and I have heard of them bringing over $300 on eBay. (And no, don't expect them to be reprinted... what's out there is all there will ever be.) I could name a few dozen other knife books that are in similar demand. So if you want to save a few bucks, the key is to not wait too long before you buy the books you need.
